Three steps to writing an academic essay

There are three steps you must take before you begin to write your essay. Each of these is crucial to its success.  

 Understand the topic

You must understand what your tutor wants. You have to think like an academic, and analyse the question to see exactly what it entails.

 Research the topic

You have to do the research. Use the library and the internet, make notes, and master the important ideas.

 Write a good thesis statement

When you have done the research, you will know what you are going to argue in your essay. Write a good thesis statement that will help you and the reader.

When you have taken all these steps, you can begin your essay with the Introductory Paragraph.
